Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - With four selections in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft, the Colorado Mammoth added depth and size to an ever-emerging 2011 squad. Colorado's first two picks, Ned Crotty (Duke University) and Ken Clausen (University of Virginia), were NCAA first-team All-Americans in 2010.
Crotty, the first pick of the second round and 11th overall, was the first American selected in the draft. In the past four months, Crotty won the NCAA Division I National Championship, the FIL World Championship (with Team USA), and the Tewaaraton Trophy, presented annually to the nation's best men's lacrosse player. The 6'2", 190-pound forward is known as a facilitator with great passing skills and superior vision.
Clausen, the Mammoth's second selection and the first pick of the third round (22nd overall), is a defenseman from the University of Virginia. A Downingtown, Pennsylvania native, Clausen started every game of his college career for the Cavaliers. The 6'2", 201-pounder was a four-time All-American and was the first in UVA lacrosse history to be named a first-team All-American three times.
The Mammoth rounded out the draft by selecting two defensemen: the Barrie Lakeshores' John Rae (5th round) and Mark Farthing (6th round) of the Peterborough Lakers.
Colorado hosts defending NLL champions, Washington Stealth, on Saturday, January 8 at Pepsi Center to kick off the 2011 regular season.
