New York Boulders News Release

The Rockland Boulders had themselves quite a week, highlighted by two weekly awards. On the offensive side, catcher Joe Maloney was named Pointstreak Player of the Week in the Can-Am League for the week ending July 6th. And on the mound, starting leftie Sean Bierman received the honors for Pointstreak Pitcher of the week for the same timeframe.

Maloney hit .611 (11-for-18) in five games for the Boulders, helping the Boulders go 4-1 in that span. He also had four home runs, nine RBIs, and nine runs scored during the week. His best day came on July 6th, when he went an impressive 5-for-5 with two home runs, four RBIs, and four runs scored. Maloney is now tied for second in the Can-Am league with nine home runs, second in the league with 40 RBIs, and fifth in the league with batting average at .333.

Bierman had himself two dominant starts, highlighted by 11 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. He also picked up two wins along the way, improving his record to 3-4 and lowering his ERA to 2.47, which is fourth best in the Can-Am league. Coincidentally like Maloney, his best start of the year happened to be his last on July 6th against the Trois-Rivieres Aggies, when he pitched 8 innings, struck out seven, and allowed only one run.
