Quad City Mallards News Release

QUACK TRACKS

Dip

The Mallards have lost four straight games, including three in as many nights over the weekend. The first three of those four consecutive defeats arrived at the hands of the Missouri Mavericks before the Mallards fell to the Thunder in Wichita 3-1 yesterday evening. This marks the first time the Mallards have suffered four consecutive losses since dropping four in a row between January 15 and January 22 of last season.

On the Road

The Mallards this week complete a stretch of five straight road games- their longest stretch of consecutive away games this season.

Breakthrough

The Mallards ended an 0-for-34 power play drought when Patrik Levesque scored on the man advantage five minutes into the third period of last night's game in Wichita. The goal was the Mallards' first on the power play since Jeremy Boyer's November 17 in Bloomington. The Mallards remain last in the league on the power play (6.9 percent).

Muzzled

The Mallards have scored fewer goals (52) than any other team in the league.

Leaders

Obi Aduba is tied for the league lead in game winning goals (4) while Mickey Lang is tied for the lead in shorthanded goals (2). John Murray ranks third among goaltenders in minutes played (744:01), is tied for seventh in save percentage (.908) and ranks eighth in goals against average (2.82). Among rookies, Mike Hellyer (14)- who scored three goals over the weekend- is tied for fourth in points while Mike Stinziani (13) ranks sixth.

Young Legs

Second-year forward Lang (1-2-3) and rookie Hellyer (3-0-3) both produced three points in three games for the Mallards last weekend.

Helping Hand

Matt Boyd matched a Mallard season best by collecting assists in four straight games before being held pointless yesterday evening in Wichita.

Penalty Kill

The Mallards ranks fourth in the league in penalty killing (84.3 percent) and lead the CHL in shorthanded goals (4). The Mallards have killed off 21 of their opponents' last 22 power plays.

Milestones

Brett Robinson is three points away from 100 for his career... Levesque is five goals short of 100 for his career.

Head-to-Head

Wednesday's game is the sixth of nineteen between the Mallards and Blaze this season. Quad City has gone 1-3-1 against Bloomington this year and is still in pursuit of its first win at U.S. Cellular Coliseum, where the Mallards have gone 0-2-1. The Mallards lost their last meeting with the Blaze 7-2 on November 25 in Bloomington...The Mallards won their only prior meeting with the Rush this season 3-2 in a shootout on November 18 at the i wireless Center. The two clubs will get together a total of six times. The Mallards have gone 7-4-0 against the Rush since entering the CHL in 2010 and have gone 2-2-0 in Rapid City.
