Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Mavericks Turn the Corner- What a week for the Missouri Mavericks () who played four games in five nights and went out and earned two points in each of them. The Mavs have won five straight games and have climbed from 10th in the league to sixth place. With their win on Friday night in Quad City, the Mavs tied their franchise record for consecutive road wins with six. Away from home, Missouri is 8-3-2 with the most road points in the league (18). October Rookie of the Month, Mike Clemente, has been in net for all five of the Mavs wins on their current streak and on the season he is 8-2-1. Offensively, Sebastien Thinel has two goals and nine assists during the five game win streak and Andrew Courtney and Podge Turnbull each have seven points. The Mavs are off until Friday when they host the Arizona Sundogs (9-11-3).

2.) Cluster at the Top- Four teams are separated by just four points at the top of the CHL standings with the Wichita Thunder (14-7-2) leading the way with 30 points, followed by the Allen Americans (14-5-1) who have 29 points. The Thunder are 8-2 in their last 10 games while the Americans have won just five of their last 10 contests (5-4-1). Sitting in third place is the Denver Cutthroats (13-8-1) who have won four straight games and are a league-best 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. The Rapid City Rush (11-7-4) are in fourth place holding 26 points and they have points in eight of their past 10 games (4-2-4). The Rush visit the Cutthroats on Tuesday night in what should be a huge December showdown and the Americans travel to Denver later in the week for games on Friday and Saturday.

3.) Struggles at the Bottom- Three CHL clubs have hit the skids with Arizona (9-11-3), Quad City (7-11-3) and Tulsa (8-14-2) all sitting on four-game losing streaks. The Sundogs slide stems from offensive struggles as the "˜dogs have netted just seven goals over their last four games (three one-goal losses). The Flock's struggles have seen them also score just seven goals over their losing streak and in their last 10 games are just 2-7-1. Tulsa may have fixed some of their issues by allowing just one goal in their last outing, a 1-0 defeat in Fort Worth, but in their previous three games, it was the defense that allowed 21 goals. The Mallards will be the first to try to stop their troubles when they play in Bloomington on Wednesday in a special early start game (10:00 AM).

By the Numbers

34: The number of consecutive chances the Quad City Mallards (7-11-3) went without scoring a man advantage goal before Sunday's PPG scored by Patrik Levesque (Mallards lost 3-1 in Wichita). Quad City is 5 for 73 on the season, good for a 6.8% success rate. The Flock lead the CHL with four shorthanded goals.

One-Timers

-Fort Worth defenseman Erik Spady is on quite a run lately notching points in seven straight games (three goals, four assists) and accumulating a +9 plus/minus rating over that stretch. In the previous 14 games, Spady had no goals and five assists and was a +1. He is just two points from his totals from all of the 2011-12 season (5-9=14).

-The Bloomington Blaze topped the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday night by an 8-3 count with eight different skaters scoring goals. In fact, 11 different players had points with seven of them recording multiple-point games.

-In Saturday's 4-1 win in Arizona, Rapid City forward Damian Surma recorded the first "˜natural' hat trick in the history of the Rush franchise. The veteran leads the Rush with 23 points on the season (7-16=23). Surma's goals came via penalty shot and two power play goals. Surma's hat trick was the 12th in Rush history.

-Entering Saturday's game, veterans Darren McMillan of Quad City and Sebastien Thinel of Missouri were without penalties for the entire season (McMillan in 19 games and Thinel in 20 games). But in Saturday's game, Thinel received his first minor of the year and McMillan was whistled for a pair of minor infractions. The Flock and the Mavs combined for 90 PIM's in the game.

-Rivals Bloomington and Quad City will meet on Wednesday morning in a special early start "˜Kid's Day Field Trip' game. Face-off is slated for 10:05 AM CST.

-Despite taking the loss on Sunday, 1-0, in Fort Worth, Tulsa goalie Ian Keserich seems to thrive on seeing the Brahmas jerseys in Texas. The 26-year-old has allowed just six goals with three shutouts in his last six starts at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
