Last Week's Games
Friday, November 3rd - Fort Wayne 3 at Quad City 2 - Shootout
Despite falling behind on two occasions, the Mallards battled back to earn a regulation point vs. the UHL's top Western Division team on Saturday night at The MARK. Fort Wayne earned a 3-2 shootout victory after two separate Mallards comebacks sent the game to the extra frame. The Komets claimed a 1-0 lead when former Mallard Bogdan Rudenko scored the first period's only goal. While on the power-play, Rudenko made an outstanding individual effort to slice through the Mallards defense and net the game's first goal. In the second, the Mallards evened the game on a goal by Chad Woollard. Glenn Detulleo won a face-off in the Komet zone and Andrei Lupandin slid the puck to Woollard who fired through traffic to net a goal for the third consecutive game. The Komets reclaimed the lead when J.C. Ruid scored on a goal mouth scramble with 2:25 elapsed in the third period. The Mallards tied the game with 6:58 left when Justin Chwedoruk found Sean Starke with the Mallards on the power-play. Starke scored his first goal as a Mallard to force the shootout. In the shootout, Quad City took a 1-0 lead on a first round goal by Glenn Detulleo before three consecutive Komets scored to secure the win.
Saturday, November 4th - Rockford 4 at Quad City 3
Opening Weekend 2006 presented by Genesis wrapped up on Saturday night with a 4-3 loss to the Rockford IceHogs. Andrei Lupandin, Patrick Nadeau and Justin Chwedoruk scored for Quad City in the loss. In the first, the Mallards captured a 1-0 lead on Andrei Lupandin's first goal of the season. Lupandin scooped up the puck in the Mallards zone and went end to end before beating Rockford's Frederic Cloutier on a wraparound chance. Netminder Jason Tapp earned the lone assist on Lupandin's goal. In the second, the Hogs moved in front on a pair of goals by Jesse Bennefield. The second-year forward scored his first goal at 1:27 of the second and struck again just over four minutes later to put the Hogs up 2-1. Patrick Nadeau tied the game at two when he scored his first goal of the year just past the midway point of the second period. Nadeau converted on a rebound after Quad City defenseman Nick Harloff was denied on a point shot. In the third, Rockford captured a 3-2 lead on a goal by Chaz Johnson. Quad City answered with a power-play goal by Justin Chwedoruk. Chwedoruk scored on a goal-mouth scramble with the lone assist going to Sean Starke. The Hogs captured the win on a goal by Preston Mizzi with 2:28 left in the game.
