Rapid City Rush News Release

(Moline, IL) - In the final contest of a three games in three nights stretch for the Rapid City Rush, the team was able to pick up a point in a shootout loss to the Quad City Mallards on Sunday evening. Jared Brown and Damian Surma were the goal scorers as Rapid City picked up three of a possible four points over the weekend. The Rush now travel back to Rapid City for games on Wednesday and Friday, November 21st and 23rd against the Denver Cutthroats. Tickets are still available by calling 716-7825 or online at gotmine.com.

The low-scoring affair started with the second shorthanded goal of the season for the Rush on a play set up by Scott Wray that allowed former Mallard, Jared Brown, to collect his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

The lead lasted until the 15:18 mark of the second period when Bob Preece had a diving effort and one-handed a shot past rookie goaltender Neil Conway to tie the score.

The Mallards took their first lead of the game seven minutes into the third on a rocket shot from the left faceoff circle by Mike Hellyer. However, veteran Damian Surma's strong individual effort that culminated in a wrist shot to the top-left corner, led to his third goal of the season and forced overtime.

After a scoreless overtime period, the game was to be decided in a shootout. Brown, Surma and Konkle all missed their shot attempts while the Mallards netted three of their four opportunities for the win.
