
Mallards Sweep Pair of Weekend Games

Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Mallards won a pair of games over the weekend to resume possession of the UHL's eighth and final playoff seed. On Saturday night, the Mallards beat the Eastern Division leading Danbury Trashers 3-2 in a shootout. Quad City followed that win with a 3-1 victory over Missouri on Sunday.
This week, the Mallards host the Port Huron Flags on Wednesday night before heading to Fort Wayne to begin a crucial home and home series on Friday. Friday's game from Fort Wayne will air live in the greater Quad City area on Mediacom Connections Channel 22. Saturday night, the Komets visit The MARK for the back end of the home and home series. Sunday afternoon at The MARK, the Mallards meet the Otters for the third consecutive Sunday.

The Komets visit The MARK for the back end of a home and home set. It's Credit Union Night as the Mallards welcome fans from area credit unions to The MARK. Fans will also have the opportunity to get their hair cut at The MARK by the stylists from Mentality Salon. Proceeds will benefit Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus. The Mallards Annual Wing Sale continues with great prices on Mallards merchandise for all fans. It's also Girl Scout Night at The MARK as the Mallards welcome Girl Scouts from throughout the Quad Cities. Girl Scouts are invited to stay after the game for a special sleepover at The MARK
Sunday, March 12th vs. the Missouri River Otters 1:00 p.m. T.G.I. Friday's Trading Card Giveaway and Guns and Hoses Night Plus a Post-Game Party at T.G.I. Friday's featuring "Date a Duck"
The Mallards host Missouri on Sunday afternoon. The first 1,000 fans will receive trading cards courtesy of T.G.I.Friday's. It's also Guns and Hoses Night as the Mallards are offering $10 lower bowl seats to police officers, firefighters, first responders, active and retired military personnel and Arsenal employees. After the game, join the Mallards at T.G.I.Friday's for a Post-Game Party. Mallards players will be up for auction as fans are invited to "Date a Duck". At upcoming Mallards games, fans can bid on Mallards players at The Maroon Mortgage Information Table. The auction winners will receive dinner with their Mallard at T.G.I.Friday's following Sunday's game. Proceeds from this event will benefit Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities.
Season Ticket Holder Buddy Nights
Mallards "Buddy Nights" return on March 19th vs. Muskegon. On these special nights, season ticket holders will receive a voucher for one free upper bowl ticket for every ticket they hold. These seats can be upgraded to lower bowl tickets for just $5. For those that haven't picked up their vouchers, they are still available at the Maroon Mortgage Information Table during home games or at The Mallards Nest.

The Flags visit The MARK for the third time this year. In their last meeting, the Mallards hammered the Flags by a final of 8-2 on Valentine's Day in the Quad Cities. The Port Huron roster features former Mallard defenseman Jason Jaworski.

The Mallards begin a crucial home and home with the Komets on Friday in Fort Wayne. The Mallards begin the week just five points back of the Komets for second in the Western Division and an automatic berth in the Colonial Cup Playoffs.

The home and home continues with a rematch on Saturday night vs. the Komets at The MARK. On the season, the Mallards are 3-3-1 vs. Fort Wayne.

The Mallards and Otters face off for the tenth time this year on Sunday at The MARK. The Mallards are 5-1-3 vs. Missouri this year including a 3-1 win last Sunday in Missouri.

Saturday, March 4th-Danbury 2 at Quad City 3 - Shootout
The Mallards beat the Eastern Division-leading Danbury Trashers 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night at The MARK. After a scoreless first period, the Mallards took a 1-0 lead 1:27 into the second on Rafal Martynowski's 16th goal of the year. The Mallards stretched their lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal by Matt Radoslovich three and a half minutes later. The tally was Radoslovich's 17th goal of the year. Danbury staged a third period comeback on goals by Shawn Collymore and former Mallard Sergei Durdin. With the score tied 2-2 after regulation, the game headed to a shootout. Terry Friesen was excellent in regulation as he made 27 saves. He continued his hot play in the shootout stopping four of five Danbury shooters. Glenn Detulleo and J.J. Wrobel scored in the shootout to earn the win for the Mallards.
Sunday, March 5th-Quad City 3 at Missouri 1
The Mallards recorded their second consecutive win with a dominant 3-1 victory over Missouri on Sunday afternoon at The Family Arena. Mallard's rookies Matt Radoslovich and Rafal Martynowski both scored for the second consecutive game while Chad Woollard added his team-leading 32nd of the year. Jason Tapp made 17 saves in earning his 23rd win of the year. Tapp has now matched his career high for wins in a season. The Mallards took a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals by Matt Radoslovich and Chad Woollard. In between the two Mallards markers, Jeff Brown scored for the Otters. Radoslovich's goal gave Quad City a 1-0 lead just 56 seconds into the opening period. The rookie's 18th goal of the year was assisted by Woollard and Jami Yoder. The Otters evened the game seven minutes later on Brown's goal. The Mallards retook the lead on a power-play goal by Woollard. It marked the 32nd tally of the year for the Mallards leading goal scorer. In the second, Rafal Martynowski recorded his 17th goal of the year to extend the Mallards lead to 3-1. The Mallards captured their 27th win of the year following a scoreless third that featured a pair of fights.
Player of the Week
Rafal Martynowski is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. The rookie forward had a goal in each of the Mallards wins last weekend.
Goalie of the Week
Terry Friesen is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He stopped 27 of 29 shots in regulation and four of five shootout shooters to earn a 3-2 shootout win over Danbury on Saturday at The MARK.
