Vipers Sign Goaltender Glenn Ridler

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that they have signed goaltender Glenn Ridler, a day after releasing both Ryan Honick and Trevor Cunning.

Ridler began the season with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL, where he played in 29 games and compiled an 18-7-1 record with a 3.36 GAA. The St. Catherines, Ontario native spent the majority of the 2004-05 hockey season in Fayetteville as well, finishing with a 5-7-0 record in 14 games with a 3.15 GAA. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound Ridler's career has also included stints in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) as a member of the Kingston Frontenacs, London Knights, and Belleville Bulls.

The Vipers also announced today that goaltender Shawn Conschafter has been activated from the injured reserve, as has right wing Gray Shaneberger. Defenseman Rico Fatticci was re-placed on the team's active roster and activated on Wednesday as well.

The Vipers, bouncing back from a stretch with several players on the injured reserve, will take on the Adirondack Frostbite at home tonight at 7:05p.m. This weekend they will host the Richmond RiverDogs on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:35p.m. and the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday at 5:05p.m. Saturday night the Vipers will honor former Roanoke and NHL hockey greats Daniel Berthiaume and Dave "The Hammer" Schultz with a jersey retirement ceremony during the first intermission of their game against the RiverDogs. Sunday will be Fire Safety Day and the Third Annual Guns and Hoses Charity Hockey game will take place following the Vipers game and special fire-themed jersey auction. In support of the Guns and Hoses event, which benefits the MDA, the Vipers are offering $5.00 goal and center ice tickets to fans on Sunday.
