Mallards Add Experience in Deal with Fury

Moline, IL- Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that the team has acquired forward Jeff Petruic and defenseman Steve O'Rourke from the Muskegon Fury in exchange for defenseman Tom Galvin and forward Anthony Blumer. The two newest Mallards are expected to be in the line-up tonight as the team hosts Port Huron at The MARK.

Petruic has scored 40 goals in a season five times during his 12-year pro career. During four of his pro seasons, he has ranked amongst the top five goal scorers in his league. In 2001-02, Petruic led the UHL in goals scored with a 57-goal campaign for the Asheville Smoke. Since turning pro, the Avonlea, Saskatchewan native has 378 goals and 309 assists for 687 points in 666 games. In 42 games with Muskegon this season, Petruic recorded 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points.

O'Rourke comes to the Quad Cities to continue his sixth pro season. He has appeared in 309 games recording 20 goals and 76 assists for 96 points. He has been a member of an ECHL Kelly Cup Finalist (1999-2000 Louisiana IceGators) and a United Hockey League Eastern Division Championship Team (2004-05 Adirondack Frostbite). In 49 games this year with the Fury, the defensive rearguard has a goal with six assists for seven points while recording a plus-nine rating.

Galvin leaves the Quad Cities after playing 57 games as a Mallard. The Miller Place, New York native has five goals and 19 assists for 24 points this year. Blumer joins the Fury after spending parts of the last two years with the Mallards. He has 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 57 games this season.

The Mallards host Port Huron for the final time this season tonight at The MARK. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at The MARK box office or via Ticketmaster (563-326-1111 or ticketmaster.com).
