Wednesday, January 19th-Rockford 3 at Quad City 1

A scrappy Mallards effort came up just short in a 3-1 loss to Rockford on Wednesday night at The MARK. At the end of the first, the Hogs struck twice just 1:11 apart. Miguel Lafleche scored a four-on-four goal at 17:25 of the period, and Terry Harrison followed with a power-play marker at 18:36 as the Hogs took a 2-0 lead. In the second period, Joe Dusbabek scored the period's only goal, his sixth of the season, from Justin Brown and Drew Otten. A valiant third period effort by the Mallards did not produce the equalizer, and Miguel Lafleche scored into an empty net with 0.6 seconds left in the game for his second goal of the night.

Friday, January 21st-Quad City 2 at Flint 1

The Mallards defeated the Flint Generals 2-1 on Friday night at Perani Arena. Goaltender Robert Gherson was stellar in net for Quad City stopping 33 of 34 shots to earn his seventh victory of 2004-05. The Generals took a 1-0 lead at the 6:30 mark of the first period on a power-play goal from Andrei Lupandin. The Mallards drew even 25 seconds later on Colin Peters' first goal as a Mallard. After a scoreless second period, the Mallards struck again early in the third. Just 1:14 into the final frame, Greg Barber scored his seventh goal of the season and second since being reassigned from Hershey last week. The Generals had a pair of golden opportunities to tie the game in the final seven minutes. Referee Ken Gallagher awarded a penalty shot to Flint's Bobby Reynolds with 6:54 left in the game. Gherson turned aside Reynolds' attempt to preserve the Mallards lead. With 1:07 remaining, Flint was awarded a power play. Flint also pulled Dan McIntyre from goal, giving them a 6-on-4 advantage. The Generals were unable to add the equalizer, extending their losing streak to five games. With the win, the Mallards improve to 4-1-3 in their last eight games.

Sunday, January 23rd-Muskegon 2 at Quad City 3

Three first period goals paved the way to the Mallards 18th victory of the season on Sunday at The MARK. Marty Standish, Jason Deskins and Mike Kompon all scored in the opening frame as Quad City evened the season series with the Fury at two wins apiece. Muskegon's Rustyn Dolyny scored a goal in the second and another in the third to set the final score at 3-2 in favor of the Mallards. Robert Gherson was impressive again in the Mallards net as he stopped 25 of 27 Muskegon shots on his way to his eighth victory of 2004-05.
