The week begins with the Trashers well represented by Scott Stirling, Bruce Richardson, Mike Bayrack and Nicholas Bilotto in Monday’s UHL All-Star Classic. TRASHERS WEEK IN REVIEW

TRASHERS COME CLOSE BUT CANNOT COMPLETE LATE COMEBACK IN LOSS TO KALAMAZOO

January 23, 2005

Despite a late-game flurry, the Danbury Trashers fell to the Kalamazoo Wings, 2-1 at the Danbury Ice Arena. A crowd of 2273 watched as the Trashers tried to tie the game in the final minute, with a man advantage and netminder Guillaume Lavallee pulled for an extra attacker. Despite good chances, Wings netminder Joel Martin held off the Trashers.

Trasher Jeff State was in the penalty box serving a roughing minor, as Shaun Fisher and Daniel Carriere registered the assists. Danbury's Samir Ben-Amor earned a instigator penalty and ten-minute misconduct for his fight was the Wings' Josh Elzinga in the period.

The second period saw just two penalties and no goals. Sean Starke was send to the Kalamazoo locker room after reciveving a match penalty for intent to injure. Brian Herbert took the only Trashers' penalty with a cross-check at 16:20.

Kalamazoo took a two-goal lead on Turner's second of the game, from Kevin Holdridge at 10:16 of the third. The Trashers responded with a power play goal from the recently-returned Nicholas Bilotto, from Jeff Daw and Doug Christiansen. With less than two minutes to go in the game, Mario Larocque and Kevin Kotyluk went to the box with matching four-minute roughing minors. Sean Fisher was sent to the box for an illegal stick at the same time.
