Beacon review

January 24, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Port Huron Flags News Release

In Brief

· 1/19: Beacons clipped by the Wings

It was the fourth meeting between these two teams with Kalamazoo having won all three previous games. The fourth was no different as the Wings won 4-2. Jason Firth (2) and Chad Dameworth (4) were the lone goal scorers for the Beacons. David Beauregard (15), Chris Slater (10), Joey Sewell (17) and Firth (11) notched assists on the night. Daniel Berthiaume made the start making 34 saves on 38 shots.

· 1/22: Flint goes down fighting

The Beacons and Generals met just one-week prior with over 182 penalty minutes amassed between the two teams. This game started out the same way that game ended. This time however, there were only five fights and no ejections. It was a strange game to say the least as the Beacons jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after one period off of goals by Jason Firth (3), Joey Sewell (20), and Mat Goody (2). The second period was all Port Huron again as they scored two more times to make it a 5-0 game, scoring for the Beacons were David Beauregard (29) and Josh Tataryn (15). It was Flint from there on out who took control, as they would score the next five goals of the game to overcome the huge deficit. It remained scoreless throughout regulation. The Beacons and Generals skated into the shootout and both goaltenders stood tall as they made save after save after save. It was not until the fifth and final round that someone scored. That goal scorer was none other than Trevor Edwards, who beat goaltender, Dan McIntyre five hole to win the game.

Upcoming Games: Week Sixteen

The Beacons head west for the start of an eight game road stretch, which starts on January 28th and ends on February 6th. The Beacons start out West playing three games this week. They then will travel out East to play four games, and then head back West for the final game.

· 1/28: Game number One
