Quad City Mallards News Release

LAREDO, Texas (December 3, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards scored three times in a minute and 18 seconds late in the second period to break open a close game and David McKee made 34 saves as the Mallards completed a weekend two-game sweep of the host Laredo Bucks by claiming in a 5-1 victory Saturday night.

Obi Aduba barreled into the Laredo goalmouth to trigger the onslaught and expand a 2-1 Quad City advantage to a pair of goals at 14:27 of the second. 51 seconds later Bobby Preece ripped the fourth Mallard goal in under the cross bar from the top of the left wing circle. Jake Riddle capped off the Mallard onslaught from the doorstep at 15:45- just 27 seconds after Preece's blast.

The Mallards had gotten the early jump on the Bucks by scoring back-to-back first period shorthanded goals. Brandon Marino opened the scoring on a partial breakaway at 6:13 of the first. At 9:51, Justin Chwedoruk ripped the puck home from the left wing circle to give the Mallards a 2-0 lead. In the wake of the second Quad City goal, Ryan Rondeau replaced starting goaltender Torrie Jung for Laredo.

The Bucks were again on the power play when David Inman's drive from the right wing circle cut the Mallard lead to 2-1 at 10:36 of the first period, but Laredo would have little to celebrate the rest of the night.
