Bucks Defeated by Mallards

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fell to the Quad City Mallards 5-1.

The Laredo Bucks faced the Quad City Mallards for the second night in a row on Saturday night at the Laredo Energy Arena. Torrie Jung started in net for the Laredo Bucks, but after the Mallards scored two shorthanded, unassisted goals in the first ten minutes of play Ryan Rondeau took over. The Bucks jumped onto the board at 10:36, when David Inman scored a powerplay goal. Ryan Sparling and Mark Nebus assisted on the goal making it only a one goal Mallard lead at 2-1. As the first period was drawing to a close, the gloves came off as the tempers started to flair between the two clubs. The Bucks outshot the Mallards 11-8 in the period.

The Laredo Bucks came out strong to start off the second period, peppering the Mallard goaltender with shots but were unable to put any past the netminder. However, Quad City was scored three unanswered goals between 14:27 and 15:45. This gave the Mallards a 5-1 lead to end the second period. The Bucks were outshot in the period by a slim 9-10, but are outshooting the Mallard in the game 20-18.

The Laredo Bucks fought hard during the third period and outshot the Mallards 15-7 in the frame. The tempers flared once again as the gloves dropped at 17:37 in the period. The Bucks were unable to make a comeback, falling to the Mallards 5-1 as the final minutes ticked away..
