
Mallards Players Help Put Breast Cancer on Ice with Calendar, Jersey Auction

MOLINE, Ill. -- Dec. 5, 2011 -- Quad City Mallards players are joining the battle against breast cancer this season with a special calendar and a "Put Breast Cancer On Ice" pink jersey auction on Friday, Dec. 9.
The pink-themed "Men of the Mallards" calendars have arrived and will be on sale for $20 at the Mallards' Dec. 9 game against Missouri, which will face off at 7:05 p.m. at the i wireless Center. Calendars also can be ordered by going to www.genesishealth.com.
Players featured for the 2012 calendar are: Goaltender David McKee (January); defenseman Bobby Preece (February); defenseman Shane Lovdahl (March); winger Obi Aduba (April); winger John Snowden (May); defenseman Tyler Sheldrake (June); winger Jason Kostadine (July); winger Brandon Marino (August); winger Justin Chwedoruk (September); winger Jared Brown (October); defenseman Darren McMillan (November); and, center Eric Giosa (December).
The Mallards will also be wearing special pink jerseys on Dec. 9. The jerseys will be auctioned live after the game at the i wireless Center.
Proceeds from the calendars and the jersey auction will benefit breast health services at Genesis.

"This event always draws tremendous support from Mallards fans and the area as a whole, which is a testament to the great community support that can be found in the Quad Cities.''
Genesis treats about 300 women with breast cancer annually and provides nearly 30,000 screenings or diagnostic procedures.
"Breast cancer remains one of the most important women's health issues facing all of us and having the resources to provide access to screening for all women remains a goal of Genesis. We're grateful to the Mallards for joining with us toward that goal,'' said Flo Spyrow, Senior Vice President, Genesis Health System.
Patients of the Kenneth H. McKay, M.D., Center For Breast Health have access to the latest diagnostic and screening tools available in the region. The center also provides women with a skilled team of experts in various specialties, including family practice, radiology, surgery, cancer nurse navigators and social and emotional support.
Genesis participates in clinical trials on an ongoing basis. Clinical trials allow women with breast cancer to receive the latest treatment while being able to remain close to their homes.
"Genesis and the Quad City Mallards organization have been partners for many years. The loyal fans of the Mallards have raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the Genesis Health Services Foundation and its projects that benefit patients throughout the region,'' said Craig Cooper, Media Relations Coordinator, Genesis Health System.
