Bloomington's Vladimir Nikiforov Named Oakley CHL Player of the Week

December 5, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

GLENDALE, AZ (December 5, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Bloomington's Vladimir Nikiforov has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending December 4, 2011.

In recognition of his achievement, Nikiforov will receive a special gift from Oakley. To learn more about the wide range of Oakley's products, visit www.oakley.com.

The Hauppauge, New York native was signed by the Bloomington Blaze on November 26 and is already averaging over a point-per-game. Nikiforov has immediately been a great fit with the Blaze during his four games amassing five goals and two assists. He finds himself sixth on his team in scoring and only one goal behind the team leader, although only competing in half as many games.

Last week, Nikiforov recorded six points in three games played (five goals and one assist). Although Bloomington only won one of the three games, Nikiforov was a huge impact on the ice. In his first outing on Thursday night, Nikiforov lifted his team to a win over the Turner Conference leading Evansville IceMen, 6-2. In the game, he recorded a hat trick (including the game-winner) and notched an assist. He followed that up with a pair of goals in the IceMen's road loss to Tulsa on Friday night.

The Blaze are 2-2-0 as a team since Nikiforov has joined the line-up with both wins coming against conference leaders at the time (Allen and Evansville).
