
Mallards Play Pair in Second Weekend of New Year

Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL â The Mallards went 1-1-1 this weekend with a shootout loss to Fort Wayne on Thursday followed by a regulation victory over Missouri on New Year's Eve and a 4-1 defeat to Port Huron on Sunday. The team has five days off before returning to the ice on Saturday in Flint. On Sunday, the Mallards return home for a match-up with the Missouri River Otters.

· Saturday, January 8th vs. the Flint Generals at Perani Arena in Flint, MI
The Mallards visit Flint for the second time this year on Saturday. In their first visit to Flint, the Mallards staged a dramatic third period comeback before winning 4-3 in a shootout. The Generals downed the Mallards 2-1 in a shootout the last time the teams met on December 4th at The MARK. The First Capital Financial Pre-Game Show begins at 6:10 p.m. with face-off to follow at 6:35 p.m. After the game, stay tuned for the Allstate Insurance Del Newton/Christy Cox Post-Game Show.
· Sunday, January 9th vs. the Missouri River Otters at The MARK of the Quad Cities
The River Otters visit the Quad Cities for the first time this Sunday following four meetings with the Mallards in Missouri. The Mallards split the four games in Missouri including a 2-1 victory the last time the teams met on December 31st.

· Sunday, January 9th vs. the Missouri River Otters-The Video Games Etc. Challenge
The Video Games Etc. Challenge returns for a second season on January 9th as the Mallards host the Otters for the first time this season. Before the game (from 1-3 p.m. at The MARK), contestants will compete in an NHL Video Game Tournament. The Championship Match will be featured on the big screen during an intermission of the game vs. Missouri. The Challenge Champion will receive either a Playstation 2 or Xbox from Video Games Etc. Call the Mallards office at 309-764-7825 to register for the tournament. It's also Family Fun-Day Sunday and the Mallards are hosting a pre-game skate from 1:15-2:00 p.m.
· Friday, January 14th vs. the Missouri River Otters-Credit Union Night
A Mallards tradition continues on January 14th with Credit Union Night. The night also features free Thundersticks courtesy of The Bread Basket.
· Saturday, January 15th vs. the Elmira Jackals-Old Time Hockey Night 2 featuring Frank Pellico
Legendary Blackhawks organist Frank Pellico returns to The MARK on January 15th. Pellico has entertained Chicago fans at both the Chicago Stadium and the United Center for years. His unique style of organ music thrilled Mallards fans in his first appearance and promises to do the same during his second trip to the Quad Cities.
Duck Talk
Tonight, the Mallards are back at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge for Duck Talk beginning at 7 p.m. This week's guests are Joe Dusbabek, Jason Lehoux and Jeff Doyle along with coach Paul Gillis. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

The Mallards first two meetings of the season with the Generals required a shootout to settle the game. This Saturday, the teams meet for a third time. The Generals have reacquired Jim Duhart since the teams' last meeting in Flint.
Sunday, January 9th vs. the Missouri River Otters
The Otters make the first of five visits to The MARK on Sunday. The Otters are the best defensive team in the United League allowing just 2.27 goals per game.

Thursday, December 30-Fort Wayne 5 at Quad City 4-Shootout
A back-and-fourth affair featured eight points (three goals and five assists) by the line of Mike Kompon, Jason Deskins and Jason Lehoux. Sergei Durdin also scored for the Mallards on the power play. Durdin's marker gave the Mallards a 4-3 lead with just 1:30 left in the game. Following a cross-checking call on Durdin, the Komets scored with the man advantage to even the game at four with 28 seconds left. The Komets won the game after a ten-round shootout.
Friday, December 31-Quad City 2 at Missouri 1
The Mallards downed the UHL's best defensive team on the strength of A.J. MacLean's third goal of the season and Frantisek Skladany's first professional goal. Skladany also earned an assist on MacLean's tally on his way to first star honors. Jeff Reynaert also staged a brilliant performance as the Mallards netminder stopped 35 of 36 shots including all 18 he faced in the third period.
Sunday, January 2-Quad City 1 at Port Huron 4
The Beacons jumped to a 2-0 lead inside the game's first four minutes on goals by Josh Tataryn and Trevor Edwards. Patrick Nadeau scored the lone Mallards goal as the first period expired. Nadeau's power-play marker was his second goal of 2004-05. After a scoreless second, the Beacons added third period goals by David Beauregard and Joey Sewell (into an empty net) to secure the victory.
Player of the Week
Mike Kompon is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week for a fourth consecutive week. Kompon had five points (a goal and four assists) in the Mallards three games last week.
Goaltender of the Week
Jeff Reynaert is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. Reynaert stopped 65 of 69 shots (.942 save percentage) this week while going 1-1-0 with a 2.02 goals against average.
