Mallards Introduce Hockey Operations Staff for 2005-06

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that the team has hired Athletic Trainer Larry Easter, A.T.C. and Equipment Manager Jason Rivera for the 2005-06 season.

Easter's primary role is to attend to the day-to-day health care needs of the Mallards players. He will be responsible for preparing players for games and practices and communicating with team doctors regarding player's health needs.

Easter began his career in hockey as the Assistant Trainer for the ECHL's Arkansas Riverblades in 1999-2000. After spending the summer of 2000 with arena football 2's Arkansas Twisters, Easter joined the Topeka Scarecrows of the Central Hockey League (CHL). After the 2000-01 hockey season, he moved to Bakersfield, California to work with the Bakersfield Condors (then of the West Coast Hockey League). After two years with the Condors, Easter returned to his home state of Kansas to act as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. In addition to his hockey career, he also owns Unlimited Fitness Health Club in the Kansas City suburb of Tonganoxie, Kansas.

Rivera will be responsible for ordering and maintaining player equipment during the 2005-06 season. He comes to the Mallards from the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers where, in addition to his equipment duties, he also served as the team's emergency back-up goaltender. He made his pro debut last season by appearing in one minute of game action during a 3-1 Wranglers loss in Alaska.

Before moving to Las Vegas, Rivera worked as an assistant equipment manager for his hometown Fresno Falcons (West Coast Hockey League / ECHL). He also worked at the team pro shop in Fresno.

The Mallards open the 2005-06 season on Friday, October 21st in Flint vs. the Generals. The 11th home opener in franchise history is slated for Saturday, October 22nd vs. the Motor City Mechanics.
