Mallards Add Woollard After Deal With Rockford

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that the team has acquired forward Chad Woollard from the Rockford IceHogs in exchange for forward Greg Barber. Woollard comes to the Quad Cities with 328 games of professional hockey experience.

Woollard has appeared in the Central Hockey League (CHL) All-Star Game each of the last three seasons. Last year, he led the Fort Worth Brahmas in goals (40) and points (75) while ranking second on the team in penalty minutes (127). He is the Fort Worth franchise's All-Time Leader in games (290), goals (132) and points (264). He also has more shots, game-winning goals and shorthanded goals than any player in Brahmas history.

In his six-year career, the Durham, Ontario native has 139 goals and 140 assists for 279 points. He has appeared in games in the CHL, Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) and American Hockey League (AHL). His last appearance in the AHL was for the 2003-04 St. John's Maple Leafs where he recorded one goal in four games.

Barber heads to Rockford after spending one season in the Quad Cities. The third-year pro recorded 39 points (13 goals and 26 assists) in 45 games with the Mallards. He is reunited in Rockford with Head Coach Steve Martinson, Barber's coach during the 2003-04 campaign with the ECHL's San Diego Gulls.
