Moline, IL- The Mallards scored twice in the first period on their way to a 3-1 victory over Kansas City on Sunday at The MARK. Rookie Mike Kompon scored twice in the win. Kompon's pair extended his team-leading goal total to 22.

Patrick Nadeau started the scoring with his seventh goal of the year 2:08 into the first period. Kompon and Andy Fermoyle earned assists on Nadeau's goal. Four minutes later, Kompon tallied for the first time on the evening on a Mallards power play.

In the second, a 5-on-3 power play resulted in the Mallards third goal of the night. Kompon scored for the 22nd time this season with assists to Greg Barber and Terry Hollinger.

Jason Ruff scored 62 seconds into the third period to ruin Robert Gherson's bid for a second consecutive shutout at The MARK. Gherson ended the night with 15 saves while earning his 12th win of the year.

The Mallards hit the road for a five-game set beginning on Tuesday in Kansas City. Game time is 7:00 p.m. with a 6:35 p.m. First Capital Financial Pre-Game Show on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

The Mallards are back home on March 12th vs. the Port Huron Beacons. The Mallards welcome Church groups from throughout the Quad City area to All Faiths Night.
