Flint Generals News Release
FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League had the shots but could not beat Fort Wayne goaltender Kevin St. Pierre as the Generals dropped a 4-0 decision against the Komets in front of 2,976 at Perani's Arena on Sunday afternoon. This was a tight defensive hockey game that would be decided in the third period on an offensive explosion by the Komets.
The Komets' right winger Chris Grenville (24) opened the scoring in the first minute of the game for a 1-0 lead 0:51 seconds. It would stay that way until Fort Wayne scored three unanswered goals in the third period as center Colin Chaulk (15) scored at 0:26, center Tom Nelson (12) at 6:54 and Grenville (25) with his second of the game at 14:14 put the game out of reach.
Flint goaltender Dan McIntyre (12-14-7) stopped 29 of 33 shots while suffering the defeat. The goaltending of Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre (24-9-2) was the difference in the first two periods of a solid defensive game between both teams.
