Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Battle Creek Bombers were limited to just one base hit in a tough 5-0 loss to the Madison Mallards Sunday night.

A scary moment in the top of the 2nd inning forced starting pitcher Casey Mulholland from the game. A line drive off the bat of Jack Livingston hit Mulholland in the face. Casey was able to walk off the field under his own power, and was taken to a local hospital for more examination.

The Mallards scored one run off of Mulholland in the first inning, so unfortunately he was tagged with the loss. Home runs from Jeff Zimmerman, Nick Howard, and Derek Fisher gave the Mallards the other runs throughout the game. Sikes Orvis provided the only Bomber hit, a ground-rule double in the 6th inning.

The Northwoods League All-Star Game is next on the agenda in the schedule. Colin Willis and Alex Tukey have both earned the trip to Madison to represent the South Division. The All-Star Game is Tuesday night, with an off-day Monday and Wednesday. The Bombers return to action Thursday night in La Crosse against the Loggers.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America. For tickets call (269) 962-0735 or visit BattleCreekBombers.com. McCamly Plaza Hotel in downtown Battle Creek is a proud supporting sponsor of the Battle Creek Bombers, as they begin their sixth season of play.
