Mallards Complete 2-0-1 Weekend

Moline, IL-The Mallards extended their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) this weekend with a pair of wins over Bloomington and Flint and a shootout loss to the PrairieThunder. The Mallards kicked the week off with a 7-3 win in Bloomington sparked by nine points from the line of Don Parsons, Chad Woollard and Brett Pilkington. On Saturday, the Mallards earned a 6-4 win over the Generals while Brett Pilkington scored his first career hat trick. The week ended with a 3-2 shootout loss to the PrairieThunder.

This week, the Mallards face off with the top teams in the Western Conference and host the Elmira Jackals. Wednesday night, the Rockford IceHogs are at The MARK for a Valentine's Day match-up. The Fort Wayne Komets visit the Quad Cities on Friday. On Saturday, the Mallards travel to Rockford for a re-match with the Hogs before returning home to host Elmira on Sunday.

Wednesday, February 14th vs. Rockford 7:00 p.m.

The Mallards have teamed with K9 Kindness to raise funds for animal rescue. On Wednesday night, while the Mallards host Rockford, K9 Kindness will be on the concourse to host an auction featuring dates with Mallards players. The funds raised will be contributed to K9 Kindness, an organization that rescues dogs.

Supermarket Night / Menard's Night

Friday, February 16th vs. Fort Wayne 7:00 p.m.

The Mallards and IceHogs face off for the first of two meetings this week on Wednesday night at The MARK. The Hogs have earned one-goal victories in each of their three previous trips to The MARK this season.

Friday, February 16th vs. Fort Wayne 7:00 p.m. at The MARK

The Western Conference leading Fort Wayne Komets bring a 33-14-2 record to the Quad Cities. The Komets have won 10 of their previous 11 games including a nine-game winning streak that was snapped by Bloomington on Saturday night. The nine-game streak marks the longest win streak in the UHL this season.

Saturday, February 17th vs. Rockford 7:05 p.m. in Rockford

The UHL's most intense rivalry continues on Saturday in Rockford. Quad City is 2-2-0 this year at The Metrocentre.

Sunday, February 18th vs. Elmira 3:00 p.m. at The MARK

The Mallards host Elmira for the second time this year on Sunday. It's the last meeting of the regular season between the inter-conference rivals. The Mallards lost a shootout to the Jackals at The MARK on December 3rd. In mid-January, Quad City went 2-0-1 on a three-game trip to Elmira.

Friday, February 9th - Quad City 7 at Bloomington 3

The Mallards improved to 6-0-1 on the season vs. Bloomington with a 7-3 win over the PrairieThunder on Friday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Chad Woollard recorded his 400th career point while posting a four-point effort (two goals and two assists). Jason Tapp made 36 saves to earn his 19th win. The Mallards stormed out to a 4-0 lead in the first period. Brett Pilkington opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first 5:56 of the game. Chad Woollard drew the primary helper on Pilkington's first goal and in doing so earned his 400th career point. Luke Stauffacher put the Mallards up 3-0 with his 25th goal of the year at 14:22 of the period before Woollard added his first marker of the night with 3:42 left in the opening period. The teams traded a pair of tallies in the second period. John Booras scored to put the PrairieThunder on the board at 9:07 of the period. Sean Starke netted his eighth goal of the campaign on a Mallards power-play at 12:53. The PrairieThunder answered with a Brad Thompson goal to pull to within three goals. Chad Woollard quickly re-opened a four-goal split with his second goal of the night just 2:24 after Thompson's tally. In the third, Tyler Rennette scored for Bloomington and Matt Radoslovich answered for Quad City to set the final at 7-3.

Saturday, February 10th - Flint 4 at Quad City 6

Quad City moved to four games above .500 for the first time this year and Brett Pilkington earned his first career hat trick in a 6-4 win over Flint on Saturday night at The MARK. With the win, the Mallards improved to 4-0-0 this year vs. Flint. The Mallards took a 3-0 lead on first period goals by Luke Stauffacher, Steve MacIntyre and Don Parsons. The Generals netted their first tally at 17:31 of the opening frame on a goal by Jeff Zehr. Pilkington began his hat trick with 14 seconds left in the first period as he beat Flint's Bryan Worosz to give the Mallards a 4-1 lead after one period. In the second, the Generals battled back to within one goal thanks to tallies by Zehr and Terry Marchant. The Mallards controlled the closing period as Pilkington scored twice to complete his hat trick before Preston Cicchine added the final Flint tally to set the score at 6-4.

Sunday, February 11th - Bloomington 3 at Quad City 2 - Shootout

The Mallards dropped a 3-2 shootout to Bloomington on Sunday at The MARK. The shootout loss marked the end of a weekend in which the Mallards captured five of a possible six points. The line of Chad Woollard, Don Parsons and Brett Pilkington combined for 23 points last weekend on 10 goals and 13 assists including both of Sunday's goals. After a scoreless first period, the teams traded second period markers as Jon Booras scored for Bloomington followed by a Quad City tally by Don Parsons. It was the league-leading 32nd goal of the year for Parsons. In the third, the teams swapped goals again. Mike Zbriger netted his 15th tally to give the PrairieThunder a 3-2 lead at 13:16 of the final frame. Chad Woollard netted a goal with just 3:02 left in the game while the Mallards were on a 5-on-3 power play to force the shootout. In the shootout, Greg Koehler and Luke Stauffacher each scored in the opening round. Bloomington netminder Steffan Braunlich shut the door the rest of the way while Jon Booras netted the game-winning goal for the PrairieThunder.

Player of the Week

Brett Pilkington is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He recorded five goals in three games including his first career hat trick on Saturday vs. Flint.

Goalie of the Week

Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He went 2-0-1 last week with a .918 save percentage and a 3.00 goals against average. He made 36 saves on Friday in Bloomington in a 7-3 win. Saturday night, Tapp stopped 37 shots to earn his 20th victory of the year. He closed the week with a 28-save effort on Sunday vs. Bloomington.
