
Mallards' Brown Called up to AHL's Chicago Wolves

Moline, Ill. (March 1, 2011)- The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced goaltender David Brown has been called up to the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.
Brown, 26, leads the CHL in save percentage (.931), ranks second in goals against average (2.28) and is tied for third in shutouts (3). The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native has gone 15-13-1 in 31 games this year. Brown made a total of 56 saves and allowed just three goals while posting back-to-back wins last Saturday in Dayton and Sunday in Evansville in his first two starts after returning to the Mallards from the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
This marks the fourth time this season Brown has been called up to the AHL. The 6' 0", 185-pound Brown returned from a week with the Marlies last Thursday and earlier this season had stints as a backup with the Houston Aeros and Texas Stars.
Brown earlier in his career spent parts of two seasons in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. As a rookie in 2007-08, he went 9-7-1 in 19 AHL games while turning in a 2.34 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. The following year Brown went 1-2-0 in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Brown was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the two hundred twenty-eighth overall pick.
The Mallards next take to the ice Friday night on the road against the Missouri Mavericks. The Mallards next play at home Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against the Mavericks.
