Makowski Commits To Denver

Green Bay (Jan. 5, 2009) - Gamblers defenseman David Makowski has committed to the University of Denver of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Makowski is scheduled to attend Denver in the fall of 2010.

Makowski, 18, (08/19/89) was selected by the Gamblers in the 2008 USHL Entry Draft after playing the previous season for Jon Cooper with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League. With the Bandits, Makowski was named to the NAHL All Rookie team and played a key role in St Louis capturing the Robertson Cup.

In his first tour in the USHL, Makowski has appeared in 22 games, recording three goals and seven assists. On the international scene, Makowski earned a gold medal as a member of Team U.S.A. at the 2008 Junior "A" Challenge in Camrose, Alberta

Makowski, becomes the ninth Gamblers player on the 2008-09 squad to commit to a NCAA Division I institution. Others include forwards Jefferson Dahl (Wisconsin), Jacob Johnstone (Michigan Tech), CJ Lee (R.P.I.), Sean Little (Wisconsin) Anthony Schooley (Michigan Tech), defensemen Taylor Johnson (St. Cloud State), Robert Shea (Bowling Green) and goaltender Reid Ellingson (Northern Michigan).
