SEASON RECORD 19-7-1

Saturday, Jan. 10 OMAHA 7:30 pm

ALL HOME GAMES AT PEPSI COLISEUM UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED

PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Ice is scheduled to practice at Pepsi Coliseum Tuesday-Thursday from 2:45-4:45 pm.

BROKEN RECORDS: The Ice closed out 2008 in record-breaking fashion with a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers New Year's Eve from Conseco Fieldhouse. Trailing 5-1 early in the third period, Indy erupted for a franchise-best five goals in the period off the sticks of Shane Berschbach, Brandon Richardson, Will MacDonald, Brent Gwidt and Zach Golembiewski to secure the win. In addition, the three middle goals by Richardson, MacDonald and Gwidt were scored in 1:55 which is an Ice USHL record for fastest three goals. The previous benchmark was 2:43 set on 11/16/07 last year.

"BLASH" RETURNS: Head Coach Jeff Blashill returns to the Ice bench this week from the 2009 World Junior Championships where Team USA finished fifth out of ten teams.

EAST DIVISION TIGHTROPE: Only two points separate first to fourth in the USHL's East Division as the Ice, Green Bay, Cedar Rapids and Waterloo joust for the top spot in the Division. Indy (39 pts) remains in first at the start of the week, but is just one point ahead of Green Bay and two points above Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. The RoughRiders have a game in hand with all four teams, while Chicago is also in the rearview mirror as the Steel are just eight points behind the Ice.

VETERAN STATUS: Two of the more consistent Ice players the last few weeks have been the veteran Ice duo of Will MacDonald and Brent Gwidt. MacDonald, one of Indy's Alternate Captains, enters this week's play on a three-game goal streak and has at least a point in four of his last five games. Gwidt, the team's Captain, has also registered points in four of his last five outings which includes a goal and five assists.

PLAYER OUNCES: Brandon Richardson is fifth in the league in points (32)....Sebastian Geoffrion is fourth in the USHL in penalty minutes (72)....Brett Bennett is first among goaltenders in wins (16) and third in save percentage (.912)... Shane Berschbach has seven points (3G, 4A) in his last five games....Defenseman Garrett Kennedy notched a goal and an assist in Saturday's game at Lincoln.

TEAM COMMENTARY: Indy has struggled defensively in their last four games as the team has given up 26 goals....The Ice is a league-best 14-2-0 at home, but just 5-5-1 on the road....Despite this past weekends' losses to Omaha and Lincoln, Indiana is still 11-3-0 against the West Division with the Lancers coming in this weekend....The Ice is second at home (87.4%), on the road (87.8%) and overall (87.5%) in the USHL on the penalty kill.
