Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, AL -- With a five-run second inning, the Mobile BayBears (27-16) cruised to their eighth straight win, topping the Chattanooga Lookouts (16-27) 8-1 Sunday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium. The eight consecutive wins for Mobile are tied for longest win streak under Manager Andy Green and with a win Monday the BayBears would tie a franchise record for most consecutive wins. Mobile won nine straight games during the 2009 season.

Chattanooga scored their one lone run in the second at bat of the game when Erisbel Arruebarrena hit a solo home run. LHP Andrew Chafin (4-1) would ice the Lookout bats the rest of the game. The lefty allowed just one earned run on five hits and struck out a season-high seven batters in seven innings on the mound.

The BayBears scored five of their eight runs in the second inning. Jake Lamb and Dustin Martin both reached on back to back walks. With one out, Raywilly Gomez drove in both runners on two-run double. Mike Freeman followed the Gomez at bat with a two-run homer and one batter later Sean Jamieson capped the offensive onslaught with a solo home run.

The BayBears scored the eight runs on just four hits, making the most of their scoring opportunities. Four Lookouts pitchers combined to walk nine BayBears batters.

The BayBears will aim to extend their win streak to nine games tomorrow morning. Mobile and Chattanooga conclude their five game series Monday, May 19, 2014 at Hank Aaron Stadium with first pitch at 11:35 AM CT.
