
Majors Shut out by Whalers

Plymouth, MI - The St. Michael's Majors engaged in a low-scoring, tight-checking affair in Plymouth this evening. Unfortunately, they came out on the wrong end of the 3-0 score. As a result, their record shifts to 7-8-0-0 on the year.
The only goal of the 1st period came off the stick of Plymouth's Chris Terry at 6:32, with the assist going to James Neal. The Majors outshot the Whalers 13-7 in the opening frame and 11-9 during a scoreless 2nd period. In the final frame, Tom Sestito made it 2-0 for the Whalers on the power-play, at 0:38 with the helpers getting credited to Neal and Steve Ward. Then, Neal added an insurance goal at 13:16, with the passes coming from Evan Brophey and John Armstrong.
Wayne Savage finished the night with 23 saves for the Majors while Jeremy Smith turned aside all 30 Majors shots. Toronto was 0 for 5 on the power-play while Plymouth was 1 for 5. The game's three stars were Smith (1st), Neal (2nd) and Ward (3rd).
The Majors continue their road trip in Saginaw tomorrow night with a 7:11 pm puck drop, before concluding their weekend-long swing in Sarnia at 2:05 pm on Sunday afternoon. They return to St. Mike's Arena on Thursday, November 2 to battle the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:30 pm.
