Majors Put the Sting On Sarnia

Sarnia, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors continued their road trip tonight, as they paid a visit to the home of the Sarnia Sting and skated off with a 3-2 shootout victory. Majors defenceman, Brett Flemming, also earned his first goal of the season in the win. As a result, Mississauga's record shifts to 12-13-0-1 on the year.

Devanté Smith-Pelly opened up the scoring late in the 1st period, when he wired a shot into Sarnia's net at 14:02, to get the Majors up 1-0. The assists went to Mike Pelech and Blake Parlett.

Then, the Sting came answering back in the 2nd period, as Justin DiBenedetto connected at 7:55 off of passes from Steve Reese and Jamie Arniel to tie things up.

The Majors grabbed a 2-1 lead, when Brett Flemming scored 14:14 into the 3rd period, with help from Pelech and Parlett. However, the home team knotted the affair once more, as Arniel's goal came with only 6 seconds left in the frame with help from DiBenedetto and Reese.

After a scoreless overtime period, Mississauga's Jared Gomes got the lone shootout goal to secure a 3-2 victory for the visitors. Pelech was the other shooter for the Majors (no goal), while DiBenedetto, Ben O'Quinn and Arniel were the shooters for the Sting (no goals). Sarnia shot first in each round.

Chris Carrozzi got the start in net and made 38 saves for the Majors, while Dan Spence turned aside 26 shots for the Sting. Mississauga went 0 for 0 on the power-play, while Sarnia finished 0 for 2 on the night. The game's three stars were Arniel (1st), Pelech (2nd) and Joe Ragalski (3rd).
