
Majors Offence in Fine Form Against Sting

SARNIA, ON - Tonight's game versus the Sting represented the first time that the Justin Donati-Tyler Haskins-Cory Vitarelli line had been together in a few weeks due to injuries and illnesses; and their chemistry became rapidly apparent once again as the trio combined for 10 points and helped lead the Majors to a 7-4 road win over the Sting. With the victory, the Majors record improves to 11-9-1-1 on the season.
Sarnia struck first as Tomas Pospisil got them on the board 12:47 into the affair, off of Jamie Fraser and Michael Haley feeds. However, Tyler Haskins responded for the Majors at 17:48, with the support coming from J. Donati and Vitarelli. Then, the Majors took control in the 2nd frame, notching goals at 5:40 (power-play), 15:52 and 19:24. The snipers were Jeff Larsh (2) and Justin DiBenedetto while the assists were credited to Scott Lehman (2), Tyler Donati and Marek Horsky.
The two squads did a fine job of trading goals in the 3rd period. Justin Donati made it 5-1 Majors when he struck off of Haskins and Vitarelli feeds at 7:35. Yet, Sarnia dug deep for goals from Pospisil and Steve Savor at 7:53 and 11:41, respectively. The assists on these markers were given to Ryan McInerney, Chris Chimienti and Mark Lytwyn. Vitarelli then contributed his team-leading 16th goal of the season at 14:39 to make it 6-3 for Toronto. The support came from Donati and Haskins once again. However, the Sting got themselves to within 2 goals one more time, off of a Jared Gomes tally at 16:26. The assists went to Chimienti and Harrison Reed. Yet, Vitarelli put the game out of the reach with his unassisted effort at 17:09.
Wayne Savage got the start in goal for the Majors and turned aside 28 shots to earn the win. Jeff MacDougald started for the Sting but was pulled after the 2nd period after allowing 4 goals on 17 shots. Parker VanBuskirk came on to make 5 saves in relief. The Majors finished the night 1 for 7 on the power-play while the Sting were 0 for 4. The game's three stars were Vitarelli (1st), Haskins (2nd) and Pospisil (3rd).
The Majors travel to Windsor tomorrow night (Saturday, November 19th) to battle the Spitfires at 7:00 pm. Then, they return home to host the Canadian Hockey League's top-ranked team, the Peterborough Petes, on Sunday afternoon (November 20th) at 2:00 pm. Only the latter game will be broadcast on Rogers television in Toronto, channel 10 or 63, while both contests will be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
The Majors will be hosting another free fan barbecue prior to the game against the Petes, which begins at 12:30 pm. They request that participating fans bring a non-perishable food item, which the team will donate to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
