Major League Soccer Holds Dispersal Draft for Chivas USA Players

NEW YORK (Nov. 19, 2014) - Today, Major League Soccer held a dispersal draft for former Chivas USA players following the shutdown of the club last month. A total of seven players from the roster were chosen. The first pick of the draft went to FC Dallas who selected goalkeeper Dan Kennedy.

Expansion club New York City FC bolstered its growing roster with the addition of midfielder Matthew Dunn. The only two homegrown players on the roster were picked up as forward Caleb Calvert and midfielder Marco Delgado were selected by the Colorado Rapids and Toronto FC, respectively.

The Dispersal Draft was conducted via teleconference call with representatives from all 20 MLS clubs. Each team was given one minute to determine their selection. The draft concluded when all MLS clubs forewent a selection.

MLS clubs acquiring Dispersal Draft players must take players at their full 2015 budget charges and options must be exercised, including any associated transfers or loans. Players unselected in today's Dispersal Draft will take part in the Re-Entry Draft, if eligible, or will be made available via the Waiver Draft on Dec. 10.
