Arkansas Travelers News Release
Arkansas Traveler outfielder Val Majewski has been activated from the disabled list after missing 11 days with a left patella inflammation. Infielder Ivan Contreras, who had been playing outfield because of injuries to multiple Traveler outfielders, has been moved to the 7-day disabled list retroactive to July 27, when he sprained his right ankle making a hard turn around first base on a single against the Tulsa Drillers.
Majewski, 28, is batting .250 with four home runs and 18 RBIs in 34 games since signing with Arkansas. He had a .311 average in a dozen games in July before sitting out with the knee injury.
Contreras, 22, was batting at a .309 clip this month in 21 games, with a .287 average for the season. He owns a .320 mark against left-handers in 2009.
