Mainers win 1-0 in rain shortened game against Danbury

The Sanford Mainers (14-8) have now won 6 in a row and are now 9-1 in the last 10 games. The Danbury Westerners came in to this match-up losing the last 12 and now fall for the 13th time consecutively. Brian Murphy (1-3) threw a wild pitch in the 4th inning brought home the winning run-Caden Bailey.

The monsoon opened up in the top of the 6th inning and Rogers Park was flooded forcing the early ending of this match-up the second between the Mainers and the Westerners this season, the Mainers defeated Danbury 6-to-4 on July 1st at Goodall Park on Military night. Brett Adcock (2-0, 3.27 ERA) was on fire through 5 innings, striking out 9 allowing just one hit and did not surrender a walk.

Stevie Berman finished 1-for-2, Kendall Patrick worked 2 walks and Sam Dexter stopped an 0-for-17 skid at the plate with a 1 hit day going 1-for-1. This contest lasted just an-hour and thirty three minutes until the sky's opened up and Rogers Park became a flood plain. The game started as a sunny and 76 degree pleasant outing between the Northern and Southern Division into a soggy marsh with cars filled with fans scattering off into the distance. Aaron Huesman blooped in a single to right field for the only hit of the night against Adcock in the 1st inning.

A smattering of offense was just enough for the Mainers as they win their 6 th in a row 1-0. The Mainers return home tomorrow to host the Valley Blue Devils (6-15), Bobby Ruse gets the ball and the week continues with 4 home games in 5 days with Mystic on Wednesday (7/9), Keene on Friday (7/11) and Plymouth on Saturday (7/12).
