
Mainers snap 2 game skid with 7-to-0 win at Laconia

Laconia, NH- The Mainers (21-14) use a 2 run 4th and a 5 run 6th to bounce back after losing their last 2 games 7-to-0 against the Laconia Muskrats (18-18). Brett Adcock (Michigan) moves his record to 3 wins and 2 losses with his 6 innings allowing just 3 hits, 1 walk and delivering 8 strikeouts. Ryan Johnson (Vanderbilt) worked a scoreless 7th and Jake Marks (UMaine-Orono) finished the final 2 innings 1 hit allowed and 2 K's. The pitching staff combined to hold the Muskrats to 4 hits in the shutout victory.
Drake Parker (Vanderbilt) went 1-for-5 with 2 RBI's (12) on a two run home run (1) to break things open in the 6th inning. Caden Baley (Georgia State) went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored, Cory Raley (Texas Tech) scored twice in his 2-for-3 day with a stolen base his 11th on the season which leads the team, and Nick Lovullo (Holy Cross) knocked a 3-for-3 day with one RBI (4), Kevin Stypulkowski (Univ. of Maine) finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI (2). Mike Rescigno (Maryland) hit a huge 2 RBI (7) single in the 4th inning to get the Mainers going and bouncing into the lead 2-to-0, Rescigno finished 1-for-3 as did Dan Hetzel (URI) with 1 RBI (3) and one stolen base his 4th. After reaching and leaving double digit base runners in the last three games, the Mainers only left 5 on base in a the 7-to-0 route.
The Muskrats were led by Colton Bottomley offensively going 2-for-4; Vinny Zarrillo finished 1-for-4, and Nick Masonia 1-for-3. Kyle Miller (0-1) made his first start and finished 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 runs while walking one and striking out 6. Adam Spracklin had trouble in his first appearance on the mound, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits as the Mainers reach their magic number 7 runs, the Moose are 6-0 when scoring between 6-9 runs on the season with a hand full of 7-0 games. The Mainers pitching staff is also top two in the NECBL in shutouts on the season.
Tonight there were 11 hits in total for the Mainers tonight after being held to 3 by the Valley Blue Sox last night at Goodall Park as the moose improve to 12-5 on the road this season. Jake Marks through the final 27 pitches for the Moose, 18 strikes, 9 balls with zeros across the scoreboard the Mainers keep pace with tomorrow's opponent Vermont.
The Mainers (21-14) and the Mountaineers (23-13) match up for a day-night double header at Goodall Park. 1.5 games separate Sanford and Vermont in the race for first place in the NECBL Northern Division. Nick Poore gets the ball for the Mainers in game one at 3:30 pm, game two scheduled to follow at 6:30 pm.
