
Mainers Lose Game One To Laconia In Extras

Sanford, ME - The Sanford Mainers lost the first game of the best-of-three NECBL Eastern Division Finals to the Laconia Muskrats, falling 3-2 at home in ten innings. The Muskrats can clinch a spot in the NECBL Finals with a win on Sunday in Laconia.
Laconia got the first run of the game in inning number four. John Ziznewski singled to lead off and advanced to second on a Bijon Rademacher sacrifice bunt. He moved up to third on a Chris Costantino groundout and scored when Dylan Kelly singled to left to make it 1-0 Muskrats.
The Muskrats extended their lead in the fifth. Kendall Keeton doubled and stole third base. With two outs Will Johnson singled on a grounder just out of the reach of Sanford second baseman Brett Mollenhauer to make it 2-0 Laconia.
Sanford fought back in the sixth. Nick LaCroix and Marlon Calbi started the inning with singles. A wild pitch moved them up to second and third before Mollenhauer hit a sacrifice fly to left to score LaCroix and move Calbi to third. Justin Leisenheimer doubled to score Calbi and tie the game 2-2.
The game remained tied through nine innings and went into the tenth, where Laconia got the winning run. Drew Fann led off and singled before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Will Johnson singled to put runners on the corners before Rademacher singled to score Fann for the 3-2 Laconia lead.
Tyler Wilson shut down the Mainers in the bottom of the inning to clinch the victory for Laconia.
