The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeat the Sioux Falls Skyforce 125-121 on Thursday at the Sandford Pentagon.
The first quarter was all Lakeland as they never gave up the lead. Magic guard Kevon Harris had an impressive first quarter with seven points and four rebounds. Skyforce guard Mychal Mulder had 11 points. Lakeland led at the end of the first quarter 37-31.
The Skyforce opened the quarter strong with a five-to-zero run, they would get their first lead of the game with 6:36 on the clock. There would be five more lead changes in the quarter. Jamal Cain of Sioux Falls led all scorers with 15 points. The Skyforce trailed the Magic 64-63 at the end of the first half.
The Skyforce opened the quarter with another five-to-zero run. As the quarter progressed Sioux Falls took control of the game gaining a seven-point lead. Mulder and Cain would put on a scoring clinic in the third quarter helping the Skyforce lead at the end of the third 99-93.
The Skyforce continued to control the game throughout the fourth quarter. Sioux Falls led until the 3:01 mark when Jonathan Isaac hit a corner three to take the lead. The Magic would build on their momentum and sweep the Skyforce 125-121. "We have to do whatever it takes to win, you have to play on both ends of the floor. We are still putting the pieces together and we've been a great team. We enjoy being around each other, you can see the chemistry building on the court. We aren't taking winning for granted," Harris said.
Kevon Harris finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jay Scrubb had 24 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Jonathan Isaac collected 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks off the bench for the Magic.
Jamal Cain finished with a game-high 27 points and nine rebounds.
The Lakeland Magic (7-3) will face the Maine Celtics Saturday, January 21 at the Portland Expo Building at 7:00 PM on Nbagleague.com.
