
Magic Roll to Victory over Lakers

LAS VEGAS -Two-way forward BJ Johnson scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Lakeland Magic to a 119-103 victory over the South Bay Lakers at the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase.
Johnson shot 12-of-18 from the field and grabbed six rebounds in the win. Forward Amile Jefferson, on assignment from the Orlando Magic, added 22 points and 15 boards while two-way guard Josh Magette had a game-high 11 assists for Lakeland.
Guard Talen Horton-Tucker, on assignment from the Los Angeles Lakers, led South Bay in scoring with 24 points while Gary Payton II added 21 points and 11 rebounds. The reigning NBA G League Player of the Week, Payton has now averaged 30.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.8 assists over the last five games.
Lakeland (9-7) will finish its Winter Showcase schedule on Saturday when it takes on the Windy City Bulls at 2:30 p.m. PT. South Bay (8-8) will face the Texas Legends on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. PT.
