Magic Beat Celtics on the Road

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeat the Maine Celtics 117-111 on Saturday at the Portland Expo Building.

The Celtics started off hot going on a nine-to-two scoring run. There would be a total of four lead changes in the first quarter, Magic forward Aleem Ford put up eight points and four rebounds in the first. JD Davison of the Celtics put up seven points off the bench. Lakeland led Maine 27-26 at the end of the first.

Neither team could break away with a large lead in the second quarter. The Magic would stay ahead throughout most of the quarter. Ford would help his team and lead all scorers with 15 points, the Celtics trailed the Magic 57-52 at the end of the first half.

Lakeland would carry their momentum into the third quarter and build a 13-point lead. Maine would respond with a 14-0 run late in the quarter taking the lead. Both teams would go back and forth in the third, but the Magic stayed in charge holding the lead at the end of the third 84-81.

The Magic continued to control the game throughout the fourth quarter building a comfortable double-digit lead. Despite the Celtics' best effort, they could not recover. The Magic would beat the Celtics 117-111. "We are going to try to keep the wins rolling, we are locked in on the little things that help us win games. We have to take pride on the defensive end, we have a lot of talented players on our team," Ford said.

Kevon Harris finished with a game-high 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Aleem Ford had 19 points and seven rebounds.

Kamar Baldwin finished with 23 points for the Celtics.

The Lakeland Magic (8-3) will face the Maine Celtics Sunday, January 22 at the Portland Expo Building at 7:00 PM on Nbagleague.com.
