Fort Wayne Mad Ants' newcomer Dahntay Jones led all scorers with 37 points to give the Mad Ants the victory over the Iowa Energy, 120-98 at the Memorial Coliseum. With the victory the Mad Ants snapped a 4 game losing streak.
The Energy went on a 16-0 run just two minutes into the game to give them a demanding 20-6 lead over the home team. The Mad Ants found a way to get their shots to fall shooting 55% in the quarter to tie the game up, 27-27 at the end of the first. The Mad Ants opened the second quarter with a Jones' 3-pointer to take the lead, which they kept for the rest of the game. The Ants led by as many as 26 points.
The Mad Ants shot 58% from the floor and nearly 50% from behind the arc. Jones went 13-18 from the floor and 2-3 from 3 point land. Earl Calloway and James Peters also came up big for the Mad Ants scoring 24 and 22 points respectively. Larry Turner hit the boards hard, pulling down 16 rebounds.
The Energy was led by Cedric Simmons who scored 21 points and had 8 rebounds. Former Iowa Hawkeyes Adam Haluska and Jeff Horner chipped in 17 and 12 points respectively.
The Mad Ants and the Energy will meet one more time this season in Des Moines on April 7th. The Mad Ants return home April 11th and 12th to conclude their inaugural season.
