Colorado 14ers News Release
DENVER - Mar. 29, 2008 - Adam Harrington scored a game-high 38 points and knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left as the Tulsa 66ers topped the Colorado 14ers 122-121 on Saturday night. Harrington went 6-7 from 3-point range on the night, and helped Tulsa extend its lead over Colorado to two games in the race for the final playoff spot in the D-League post-season.
Billy Thomas matched Harrington shot-for-shot for the first 47 minutes, but was unable to connect on the 14ers final attempt at the buzzer. His season-high 34 point effort was not enough to keep Colorado from losing its sixth straight game.
Tulsa trailed by as many as 19 points in the first half, but slowly chipped away at the Colorado lead in the third quarter. Harrington hit three of his six 3-pointers in the third, scoring 15 points in the period to lead the 66ers comeback. Tulsa led only one other time in the second half before Harrington's game-winning 3-pointer.
"We got down early and we fought back," said Harrington. "The team showed a lot of heart and character and it was a huge win for us."
Ronald DuPree came off the bench to support Harrington's effort with 26 points on 11-15 shooting. Jason Fontenet and Keith Closs also added 17 points each in the Tulsa win.
Roderick Riley had a season-high 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Colorado. John Thomas also posted a double-double and Kaniel Dickens added 24 for the 14ers in the loss.
The 14ers and the 66ers will meet again Sunday evening in Broomfield.
