[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] â The Cape Fear FireAntz of the South East Hockey League (SEHL) announced today that February 14th will mark the return of Darren McLean. The Valentine's Day game will officially be titled "Operation Sellout II: Valentine/Military Appreciation Night". The Cape Fear FireAntz will be playing host to the Winston-Salem T-Birds at 7:35 pm.
McLean, a fan favorite with the Fayetteville Force, will lace up the skates once again, for the Valentine's Day game. While playing for the Force from 1997-1999 McLean played in 105 games, had 17 points, and 460 penalty minutes. Following his first stint with the Force, he played for the Tupelo T-Rex and Amarillo Rattlers in the 1999-2000 season. McLean returned to the Force in 2000/01 playing 21 games and racking up 115 penalty minutes.
Having played in the first game ever in the Crown Coliseum, Darren has actively been involved in Fayetteville hockey since its inception in 1997. McLean also assisted in bringing hockey back to Fayetteville with the formation of the Cape Fear FireAntz.
After his playing career was over Darren came to work for the FireAntz as an Account Executive for the Inaugural season. Following the season, McLean stepped into the position of Assistant General Manager, where he oversees all season ticket and corporate sales during the off-season and hockey operations during the winter.
