Patterson's goal gives Cats win

Huntsville Channel Cats News Release


Huntsville, AL – James Patterson scored with 1:17 left in the third period to break a 4-4 tie and give the Huntsville Channel Cats a 5-4 win over the Cape Fear Fire Antz Thursday night.

Joe Urbanik, Joel Bresciani, Luke Phillips and Dan Buccella all scored goals for Huntsville. Allan Carr had three assists, Jason deGuehery had two and Patterson, Bresciani, Josh Mandel and Jessi Otis all had one each.

Matt Shannon, Matt Kohansky, Dave Leger and David Bagley all scored goals for Cape Fear. Scott Young had three assists while Mike Maurice, Rob Vessio and Mike Bournazakis all had one each.

Scott Graham improved his record to 7-0 by stopping 33 shots. Kevin Fines stopped 29 in the loss.

The two teams swapped goals early in the game and the 15:00 mark of the first period the game was tied at 2-2. The next five minutes was filled with fights as four players from each team were in the penalty box serving five minute majors.

The Cats scored one goal in the third to take a 3-2. Both teams added two in the final period.

The Channel Cats will host Knoxville tomorrow night at 8:35. Cape Fear will host Winston-Salem.
