Carmichael leads Cats to win

Huntsville, AL – Matt Carmichael started his first playoff game after missing last night and led the Huntsville Channel Cats to a 3-1 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears and a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Carmichael stopped 35 shots in the win and the only goal came on a K.J. Vorhees power play goal in the second period. He stopped 10 shots in the first period, 13 in the second and 12 in the third.

Luke Phillips gave the Cats a 1-0 lead with 14:23 left in the first period. Jessi Otis added the assist.

The Cats went up 2-0 at the 12:45 mark of the second period on a goal by Joe Urbanik. Joel Bresciani and Otis added the assists.

Vorhees then scored with 4:37 left in the second with an assist from Alex Alepin and Craig Desjarlais.

Mike Degurse added the final goal with 9:24 left in the game with an assist from Bresciani and Greg Snitowsky.

The two teams meet again Sunday afternoon in Knoxville for game three of the series.
