Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Monday that they have reassigned 2004-born forward Reid MacKay to the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

MacKay, 17, was originally a third-round round (65th overall) draft pick of the Hurricanes in the 2019 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. The Irma, AB product skated in 17 games this season with 'Canes totaling one assist along with four penalty minutes. He has played in 22 career games with the Hurricanes collecting two assists.

"We want to give Reid an opportunity to go to the Bobcats to get some quality ice time and playing time," said Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt. "He hasn't played a lot over the last couple of seasons with injury and Covid, so this will be a great opportunity for him to go and play."

The Hurricanes return to action on Wednesday when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos at the ENMAX Centre at 7:00pm before welcoming Prince Albert on Friday and Edmonton on Sunday. Select tickets on game days after 5:00pm at the ENMAX Centre Ticket Centre.
