
MacDonald Recalled by Detroit, Pearce Returns from Toledo

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday recalled goaltender Joey MacDonald from the Grand Rapids Griffins, who in turn recalled Jordan Pearce from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye.
MacDonald, 30, shows a 2-1-1 record with one shutout, a 1.72 GAA and a 0.929 save percentage in four games with the Griffins this season. On Oct. 15, he backstopped the Griffins to a 1-0 win at Manitoba, making 25 saves to extend his franchise shutout record to 17. The next night, he denied 19 of 21 Moose shots, leading Grand Rapids to a 3-2 victory and earning his 90th career win to tie Jimmy Howard atop the team's all-time list.
MacDonald will be Chris Osgood's understudy tonight when the Red Wings host Phoenix at 7:30 p.m.
Pearce, 24, has played three games with Toledo this season, posting a 1-2-0 record with one shutout, a 4.38 GAA and a 0.867 save percentage. In five appearances with the Griffins last season, he went 1-2-0 with a 3.82 GAA and a 0.875 save percentage.
Pearce is expected to back up Thomas McCollum on Friday when the Griffins host Oklahoma City at 7 p.m.
