Mac McClung scored a franchise-record 44 points, as the Osceola Magic defeated the Memphis Hustle at Osceola Heritage Park, 125-116, Friday night in Kissimmee.
McClung broke the previous scoring record of 43 points, set by Andrew Rowsey on February 1, 2020 vs the Capital City Go-Go.
Trevelin Queen added a double-double for Osceola, tallying 23 points and 10 rebounds. The Magic had five players score in double figures. GG Jackson led Memphis with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
"I had no clue, It's an honor to be a part of Magic history," McClung said. "Everything about Osceola has been great, my teammates and management have been extremely supportive. It's a great record to break but I know one of my teammates will break it this season."
Although Osceola trailed Memphis by 26 points in the third quarter, they rallied back in the fourth, outscoring the Hustle, 44-16. McClung led the Magic with 18 fourth quarter points.
"No lead is safe in the G League," Queen said after the game. "I've been a part of losses and wins, we just had to put our heads down and play Magic basketball."
"After you see the ball go in a few times you see it start to move a bit more," Osceola head coach Dylan Murphy said. "You crash harder, box out more, you defend better and that cycle fulfills itself."
The Osceola Magic (2-2), NBA G League Affiliate of the Orlando Magic, will face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, on Wednesday, November 22 at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg at 8:30 PM. The game will stream on ESPN+.
