Lynx' Johnson is ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Augusta center Jamie Johnson is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for February 14-20.

The 23-year-old Johnson scored two goals and added four assists while helping the Lynx go 2-0-0. He had an assist and was +1 in Augusta's 3-0 win over Greenville on Thursday. The 5-10 and 185-pound center then tied his career game highs with two goals, including the game-winner, and three assists for a career-best five points in a 6-2 win over Pee Dee on Friday.

Johnson, who has 12 multiple-point games, leads Augusta and ranks second in the ECHL with 41 assists while his 57 points are also a team best and rank fourth in the league. He is tied for the Lynx team lead with 16 goals and ranks second on the team in power-play assists (20), power-play points (22) and game-winning goals (3).

Johnson has scored nine points (2g-7a) in his last three games and has scored a point in 11 of his last 12 contests and 41 of 50 games on the season. His 57 points in 50 games equals the number of points he totaled in his rookie season with Louisiana in 2003-04.

Born in Port Franks, Ontario, Johnson played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Sarnia and Oshawa, scoring 249 points (55g-194a) in 262 career regular season games and 22 points (3g-19a) in 25 career playoff games. In his final season in 2002-03 with Oshawa, Johnson had career bests with 24 goals, 76 assists and 100 points in 68 regular season games and had a career best 13 assists and 14 points in 13 playoff games.

On behalf of Jamie Johnson, a case of pucks will be donated to an Augusta area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. In Glas Co has donated over 10,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in 2000-01.
