August 27, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, Ga.−The Augusta Lynx have named Dane Litke assistant coach, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today.

"Dane knows this league, and he's familiar with the quality of play here in the ECHL," Marks said. "He has the youth and exuberance to be an excellent liaison between the players and myself. He's a bright young mind with an even brighter future."

Litke, 36, was most recently the head coach of the Bismarck (N.D.) Bobcats of the North American Hockey League from 2005-2007, where he compiled a 68-66-10 regular season record and a 1-3 playoff record. Prior to earning the head coaching position, Litke was the assistant coach with the Bobcats from 2002 until his promotion in May of 2005.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity," Litke said. "I'm coming not only to help Augusta, but also to learn from Coach Marks. I like the way he coaches; he's an honest guy who's up front with his players, and we think the same way."

Prior to his full-time coaching career, Litke, a native of Beausejour, Manitoba, served as a defenseman and assistant coach with the former Baton Rouge Kingfish of the ECHL from 2000 through 2002. The former defenseman tallied 142 points (35 goals, 107 assists) and 81 penalty minutes in 265 career regular-season games with Baton Rouge and Florida from 1998-99 through 2001-02.

"Dane is a longtime hockey guy who is an impeccable evaluator of talent," Norfolk Admirals General Manager Mike Butters said. "He knows the college and entry-level players very well, and I think he complements Marks in many ways. This is a great hire for Augusta."

The Augusta Lynx will begin their 11th season of play when they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Oct. 17th at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets, group tickets, small business packages and fundraisers are all available by calling 706.724.4423 or by logging on to augustalynx.com.
