Checkers Add Maxime Boisclair To Lineup

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has come to terms with forward Maxime Boisclair.

Boisclair, 6-foot-0, 196 pounds, hails from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League star skated in 47 games last season with the St. Hyacinthe Top Design of the LNAH scoring 29 goals and 53 assists for 82 points with 75 penalty minutes. He also dressed in 14 games for the Elmira Jackals scoring four goals and 10 assists for 14 points while adding two goals in six post-season contests for the Jackals. He received two call-ups to the American Hockey League last season and skated in one game for both the Hershey Bears and Syracuse Crunch; however, he did not register a point in either game.

Wilkinson also announced that defenseman James Jernberg and goaltender Parker Van Buskirk would be attending training camp on a tryout basis.

The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Opening night will take place on Halloween against the Augusta Lynx at a special 8 p.m. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
