Lynx Forward Natalie Achonwa Set to Return

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve today announced forward Natalie Achonwa is set to return and in a subsequent move, the seven-day contract of forward Natasha Mack has been terminated. Achonwa will be available for Minnesota's home game against the New York Liberty at Target Center on Sunday, August 15.

Achonwa rejoins Minnesota after appearing in three games with Canada in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she averaged 8.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.3 blocked shots. On July 28 against South Korea, Achonwa tallied her first Olympic double-double registering 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block.

The six-year veteran averaged 3.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists in the eight contests she appeared in before she suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain in Minnesota's 80-64 victory against the Los Angeles Sparks on June 12.

Mack, a 6-4 forward, signed with Minnesota on July 6 and appeared in one game. Selected 16th overall by Chicago in the 2021 WNBA draft, she saw action in three games with the Sky and held averages of 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds 5.3 minutes per game.
